Second Doses

I had my second vaccine dose almost 3 weeks ago. By that evening, my legs and back were a bit achy. The next day I took some Tylenol and the achiness went away, but I was sick and nauseous all day. Not sure if that was due to the vaccine or a migraine that I would have had anyway (this happens more frequently than I would like). I also blame not drinking enough water following my shot.

My husband had his second dose 2 days ago, and we made sure he stayed well hydrated all day. Besides a sore arm, he didn't have any other effects.

From now on I'm going to make sure everyone keeps super hydrated after their vaccinations!

Just because we are now "fully vaxed," I don't plan to change much until I see overall infection rates going down. A [vaccinated] friend invited us over for a barbecue and to see their new house. I had to let them know that my feeling is, until we see infection rates going down in general, I see the vaccine as one more layer of protection, but I'm still not really into maskless hangouts, being indoors, gathering in groups, etc. Between not knowing how effective the vaccine is against variants, and not knowing how much of an immune response everyone mounted individually (like is it as effective for people with autoimmune disease?), I just don't trust that because someone's vaccinated, they're safe to hang around with - myself included.

For the same reason, I didn't sign up to participate in weekly outdoor rehearsals that my community band has started back up. They're expecting that as people get vaccinated, they'll return to band, and put out a survey to see which rehearsals and concerts members were planning to attend. Instead of taking the survey, I just replied that I wasn't really down with gathering in large groups (even if outdoors and spread out), and blowing particles around through our instruments (even with bell covers, which aren't even applicable to every instrument).
